How Feng Shui was used in the Flower Store
with I Ching’s Advice to “Go For It” :
In March 1997, long before the conception of the idea for a new venture, a client consulted Aroon Ajmera, to get advice on the way forward…and here is how Feng Shui became an integral part of the entire project.
Overview of the situation:
The client’s wife, with Garden Landscape consultancy business had reached a stagnant position, leaving some negative charge within her which was, in a way, obstructing her creativity and preventing her from finding the jewel in the oyster. Her husband, a property developer and a businessman mentioned the new property he had just acquired with a shop and a flat above.
I Ching was consulted which said, “Go For it, -You still have a way to go. In holding on to something lesser, you lose the possibility of gaining something greater"”
This empowered them to take the plunge. They attended an intensive course on flower arrangement during the summer of 1997 and appointed the architects, for the shop design with the aim of opening the shop by the end of the year. The client’s wife, once said-“I hope, my dream of owning a flower shop becomes a reality”.
Feng Shui Astrology and Energy of Time:
She was born on 15 September 1951, making her a 4-tree (wood element) person with propensity to lead people through her maturity, charisma and clarity of vision. Her ability to influence other people and intuitive nature made her a good administrator for any business project. Her most auspicious directions were North, East, South and Southeast. October and November 1997 were identified as her most auspicious and upward moving months and the date of the opening of the shop, therefore, was agreed as 11th October. The Cash Desk was to be positioned to face the East. There was no doubt that her move was a safe one, given that the new shop was next to her existing successful shop called “The Card Shop”.
Flowers and Plants represent life and growth and symbolise advancement and progress. They are particularly good for the people born under wood element.
Architectural Style and Design:
The review of the floor plans followed which incorporated a rear extension to the shop with a sunlit conservatory to energise and nourish a variety of indoor plants to be displayed on the shelves in the wealth, relationship and fame areas of the shop. This idea was very good although other outlet plans showing the termination of underground wastepipes in the wealth corner and void spaces in the wealth and relationship corners in the shelving designs were returned for modifications. A raised ceiling in the front, ample lighting of modern designs and an artistic stone/slate path in the middle of the shop were instantly approved. Given the presence of wood in her birth sign, she was advised to use as little metal as possible. In addition, it was suggested that she avoided using metal colours like gold or silver, opting instead for her supportive colours like blue, green and lemon to harmonise with the nature of her business. Fitted bespoke furniture and shelves were to be created from beech wood or glass for modern outlook.
Floor Plan:
With complete faith in Feng Shui benefits, they accepted various suggestions without any hesitation. The key points are listed below.
· To install a large mirror on the wall of creativity area.
· To have an indoor water feature by the entrance for prosperity and to attract the attention of customers.
· To display at least one plant with red flowers on the table in the area of fame & recognition to energise her business reputation.
· To arrange a cluster of money tree plants on the shelves in the wealth corner of the shop.
· To ensure that the cash register’s side is reflected in a mirror for doubling her turnover.
· To install hi-fi speakers in the area of ‘Thunder’ with background music from the nature sound library together with new age relaxation music such as “Island called Paradise.”
· To ensure that all sharp edges of any furniture is rounded off for creating a harmonious, supportive and creative environment.
Conclusion:
The Flower Store flourished since it opened in October that year. They always believed in the saying that “Success is a journey and not a destination”. She smiled while saying, “We have already supplied flower arrangements to major events in London. Our health and relationship have improved since implementation of the Feng Shui arrangements,” and “Business certainly is blooming!”
The flower store located in North London, soon acquired a stylish reputation with elite clientele. The shop stocked all varieties of flowers from all over the world, catering for weddings, funerals, parties and hotels with a more contemporary approach. They also started doing the corporate work, mainly for fashion and media companies with continued expansion in the number of outlets based in major railway stations. The latest outlet of the chain was the sixth location, in Oxo Tower wharf, located next to river Thames. The north London shop even won the local council’s award of the best designed shop of the county. Sky was the limit, for the turnover and profitability.
The client’s letter of testimonial to Aroon said ‘That the business got off to a wonderful start and we were quite certain through our successful journey through years that Feng Shui played a large part in it.
