Why is The London Eye so successful?

Picture
Aroon Ajmera investigates the phenomenal success of London’s best tourist attraction in a relatively short period of time and attributes it all to good Feng Shui…

British Airway’s London Eye is the world’s highest observation wheel and offers passengers amazing views of Britain’s capital city. The eye takes guests on a 30 minutes’ flight rising to 450 feet above the river Thames in 32 high tech fully enclosed capsules.

Opened in year 2000, it has become the most popular paid for attraction in Britain and plays a major role in tourism Industry and economy of London and the UK.

At over 135 meters high and weighing 1500 tonnes, British Airway’s London Eye has become the most spectacular addition to the London skyline marking an extraordinary feat in 21st century architecture and engineering.

Its innovative marketing with options such as champagne flight, Flight and dine, with a River Cruise, the venture is breaking all records for its turnover. Easy access via British Rail, Tube, Roads and Boats has contributed positively. The use of all five elements together and a harmonious floor plan has helped it to be the most successful attraction in London. River Thames formatting an embracing curve around it has provided it with the fortunate blessings for its location.

Use of Five Elements together for creating harmony

WOOD: The passenger capsules incorporate an entirely new design form for observation wheels. They allow 360 degrees’ panorama at the top and the base platform within the capsule uses wood panels and wooden seats for panoramic views all round.

EARTH: The foundations and frame legs required 2200 tonnes of concrete (Earth) and 44 concrete piles.

METAL: The main elements of the hub and spindle were manufactured in cast steel (Metal).

WATER: Element water is reflected in the lavish use of clear toughened glass for the capsules of modular design free of any cutting chi or sharp corners.

FIRE: The wheel requires 500kw of power, which is equivalent to 6 light bulbs per person if the wheel is at its full capacity.

Ideal plan as per Feng Shui & Vastu !!!

Picture
Using the classical compass or the lo pan, the ticket office is located in the south east direction or the wealth corner and if you look at the Indian Vastu, the entrance to the entire plot is in the north east, the most favourable location for capturing chi into the main door of any premises. It also has the ideal floor plan as per 3 Gate Bagua as you will see from the details below. This gives it triple layer strength for harnessing positive chi from the environment.

AN IDEAL FLOOR PLAN on Universal chart as per 3 Gate Bagua and zone by zone analysis:

Zone No.1- Journey or Discovery area is the entrance and approach to the site plan and houses 6 solid metal bars used as the anchor for the whole structure, which can be compared to a huge wind chime filtering and moderating the flow of energy coming towards the wheel.

Zone No.2- Love or Relationships area is allocated to formation of meandering queues of passengers getting ready to board the flight.

Zone No.3-
Elders or Health area has a circular/modular wooden coffee/refreshment shop with some chairs and tables where the visitors can relax and nourish themselves before embarking on their lucky experience of a lifetime.

Zone No. 4- Wealth or Fortunate Blessings area (guess what is located here)-Ticket purchase and Ticket collection office inside the County Hall building- ground floor. Cruise tickets for an exciting 45 minutes’ tour along River Thames can also be purchased here. Souvenir guidebooks and disposable cameras with various options such as champagne cruise can also be booked here.

Zone No.5- Tai Chi, wellbeing or Unity area is kept empty and clutter free as it should be for free flow of energy from each of the eight directions.

Zone No.6- Courage or Helpful friends area is specified for long queues with meandering metal rail guiding the flow of customers on busy days, weekends and peak periods.

Zone No.7-Creativity area has a unique gift shop (again circular in shape) with a variety of creative products with London Eye logo for sale. The cash counter is in the zone no 9 of the shop, giving a lot of space for circular display counters.

Zone No.8-Wisdom area has the upward sloping walkway as if that is the access to the cave called County Hall building. Minute attention has been paid to access for disabled guests.

Zone No.9-Fame or Illumination area houses the London Eye itself, of course. The ride in the spectacular modules makes everyone illuminated by taking us to the climax of our visit. No wonder the eye has won many awards since 2000 including Architectural Award 2001, London Tourism Award 2001, Best British Innovation award 2001 and European Award for steel structures-2001 to name a few.

The wheel has generated so much international interest that talks are under way to set up one in Las Vegas and one in Australia.
The Lambeth council has already extended the initial five-year licence to  25 years.
Who knows this venture may float on the stock exchange in the future!!!
