Based on 9 Star Ki Astrology

A serene environment with an inviting wall decor.
9 Star Ki Astrology originated in Japan but is now widely used in the Far East. The method is based upon the solar system and the year changes on 4th February. The annual and monthly cycles of energy fields are based upon the planets moving around the sun and also the earth circling the sun. The theory is based upon the five elements: Fire, Soil, Metal, Water and Wood.  Although there are only 5 elements, there are 9 types of people and each person assumes a character based upon a combination of three numbers: character number, childhood number and destiny number.

The first number is the character number or the birth star of a person and is most important for creating a supportive environment.

Nine types of people:

Anyone with a birth star number 1 is a Water person, anyone with a birth star number 2, 5 or 8 is an Earth person, with a birth star number 3 or 4 is a Wood  or Tree person, with a birth star number 6 or 7 is a Metal person and with a birth star number 9 is a Fire person.

You can now figure out your child’s birth star number by referring to the following chart.

If born on or after 4th February only, as the Chinese calendar starts on 4th February and ends on 3rd February. (If the child is born between 1st January and 3rd February of any given year, please take the previous year’s birth star number).

Water (1) children need space and a large boundary. If the space is narrow they will overflow, as they are never tired. They may say ‘I don’t want to go to sleep.’ If you establish a boundary of say 9pm, and then they will be happy to go to bed.   A Water child’s room needs to be larger, with extra space as they accumulate a lot of material; they need extra storage space otherwise they become insecure. Light blue, silver grey, gold or white are good room colours for them; avoid cream, beige or green.

Earth (2, 5, 8) children are steady; they are family gatherers, family oriented and reliable. They are consistent and clear. They will notice hypocrisy. For them, you can never get away by saying ‘Do as I say and not as I do’. 8 earth children will withdraw a lot. If things are too changeable, they begin to doubt and lack their own security. They also become critical as a result of your inconsistency.   Their room should preferably have earth shaped puffy chairs, cushions, mattresses, pillows and beanbags. The room must not be too cold; avoid an aquarium but you can give them a hamster. Cream, beige, sand and pink are good shades for their rooms; avoid green, silver and white.

Tree or Wood (3, 4) children need a little support and encouragement to get started. Be careful not to suppress them, otherwise they become distorted as they take things literally. Too much control is devastating for them. Any parent will appear to them as a Metal parent. If you frustrate a Tree child, they will be angry and have tantrums. Their natural tendency is to go up and out like a tree. You don’t prune a tree everyday but, once in a while, you create a boundary for them.

They can construct their own room with things of their own choice as soon as they are able to understand their environment. Light green and any shade of blue are good for their room colour; avoid pink, red, silver and gold.

Metal (6, 7) children need the most warmth and confidence. The danger for them is stagnation and coldness; they feel isolated and the emotional result is depression.
Their space design should be age appropriate:

7-8 year olds can have rainbows and Jungle Book images;
10-11 year olds can have pop stars and football players on posters;
13-14 year olds can have posters of celebrities.

They should be allowed to select from a variety of posters and even a variety of bedspreads.

Silver grey, gold, white, cream and beige are supportive colours for their rooms; avoid blue, pink or any shade of red.

Fire (9) children are very active and hence they need a clear direction, order and discipline. They have tremendous energy and will do many things; you cannot predict their actions. Be ware of showing them too much sentimentality; they become sad and unhappy if you smother them; you cannot hug fire.

Their room can be developed with them; avoid red colour and a carpet with a pattern. Keep the room environment simple, as they are not going to spend much time in the room anyway.

Light green or pink are good colours for their rooms; avoid blue, cream, beige or yellow.

Basic tips for all children’s rooms:
  • Clutter can block your child’s ability to think clearly; unnecessary toys and books should be given away to charity.
  • Ensure that your child’s bed is in a corner with the support of walls, with no overhanging shelves and is in full view but not directly facing the door, for maximum security.
  • Bunk beds are not desirable as they can limit the growth potential with the oppressive energy flowing around the body.
  • Curtains or roller blinds are preferable to the conventional blinds, which create harmful cutting chi in the environment.
  • Artwork should be hung at their eye level. Their comfort should be our priority as their room is their personal space.
  • Eliminate any images or posters, which give undesirable vibrations as the vibrations give subliminal messages that mould a child’s character.
  • Desks should be placed diagonally facing the door with the doorway in full view to offer them maximum security.

Ends.

Many of my clients have requested a book on 9 Star Ki Astrology, which I have started working on. Please be on the look out, you might see it on this website within the next month.
